The Story behind "Lei'gacy"

Welcome to our family" The Cox Family". We are a family of 5 sisters and 3 brothers, all Hawaiian, who reside in Columbus, In. We have 30 nieces and nephews who tend to keep us very busy these days, but thats ok, we love it!
Let me tell you how Lei'gacy got started and where we want to go. In 1995 our mother, Lily Makuaole Poliahu Cox passed away after a bout with Diabetes. It was through her love for music and her children that allows us to have the voices we do today. She always wanted the best for each of us and wanted us all to succeed in life. As a result of this we decided, in her honor, to form the group Lei"gacy. Mom was brought up in a family of musicians. Tutu Mama and Tutu Papa (her parents)both played instruments in a local band in a town called kohala, which was located on the east side of the big island. They taught her the hawaiian harmonies that she passed along to us which help us to create the unique sounds we share with others today. In July 2001, we lost one of our sisters unexpectedly. She was Leah Renae Talkington, mother of three who had one of the most beautiful alto voices you could ever hear. She loved the hawaiian cultures, music, traditions and folklores of the islands so much that daily she would spend time just listening to songs that touched her heart. As a result of her passing, we have added another reason to not only being Lei'gacy, but continuing our family singing tradition for as long as God will permit. Lei'gacy will live forever in Columbus, In. as we have encouraged our children to become active in music/singing and performing whenever possible so they can play an active part in taking our places in our group. Our hopes are to one day see our children perform before large audiences or even on TV. What a wonderful moment that will be for Mom and Leah "as well". We are a very close knit family who love spending time together as much as we can. We hope you will allow us to come and perform for you at your next event. We do all music styles from Country, 50's-60's, R&B, Contemporary, Rock, Modern Dance, Patriotic, Luau's and some Gospel also. Thank you for taking this time to find out alittle more about our family. We hope to hear from you soon. Mahalo/Aloha...................
